The Bali Shark Project was founded in 2011 to address the problem of shark fishing in Bali. After being witness to the thresher shark fishery in Bali Waters we decided to take action. and create a NGO. Our goals are the education of the the local fishermen and general population on marine protection and the creation of a shark sactuary all around Bali and the adjacent islands. We are aware of the economical impact a shark fishing ban would have to the local fishermen and other actors in the trade, that is why we also advocate for alternative jobs, like patroling the waters, and a ecological fee in Bali, which should be use to protect the Bali´s land and acuatic nature.
